You are the bench tech at a custom-PC shop. A customer has dropped off the parts for a CAD workstation and asked you to do the full install on their new
Z790 ATX motherboard. The kit on your bench:
- 1 × Intel Core i9-13900K CPU
- 2 × 16 GB DDR5-5200 DIMMs (must be in dual-channel — A2 + B2, or A1 + B1)
- 1 × NVIDIA RTX 4080 GPU (double-slot, PCIe x16)
- 1 × 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD (M.2 2280)
- 1 × 24-pin ATX main power harness
- 1 × 8-pin EPS CPU power harness
- 1 × CR2032 CMOS coin-cell battery
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.
Drag each part from the parts bin on the right into its correct slot on the motherboard. Slots glow yellow when you drag a part over them; correct placements snap green.
2. The DDR5 DIMMs must go in
matching colored slots for dual-channel — if you populate adjacent slots (A1+A2 or B1+B2) the build will warn you.
3. When all 7 components are placed, click
POST & Validate. The system will boot only if every required slot is filled correctly.
